Michelle’s otterly AMAZING adventure
Chilling

This week, we feature none other than Dr. Michelle Mostert and her incredible ability to push boundaries. Meanwhile, I'm writing this piece from the comfort of my blanket, indulging in tennis biscuits and tea.

ray of sunshine !! That’s Michelle 😎

We are thrilled to congratulate Dr. Michelle Mostert on completing the iconic Otter Trail in South Africa! Known for her fiery spirit, love for the outdoors, and incredible fitness, Michelle has always been a joy to be around, and this accomplishment is yet another testament to her determination and adventurous nature.

Damn !! How does she look this good after all that hiking

The Otter Trail is not for the faint-hearted. Michelle braved the cold winter weather, swam across rivers, and climbed up mountains—all with an 18kg backpack. Her resilience and enthusiasm shine through every step of the way.

A Q&A with Dr. Michelle Mostert

Q: How do you feel after doing the hike?
Michelle:
Tired, sore, but accomplished!

Q: Would you do it again?
Michelle:
Probably not… it was a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list adventure for me - but ask me again in a few weeks and I might have a different answer!

That bag looks bigger than Michelle 😭🤣

Q: Your biggest win on the trip?
Michelle:
Not running out of food or dry clothes before day 5 of the hike.

Q: The moment you wanted to give up?
Michelle:
When, even at low tide, we realized we were going to have to swim across Bloukrans River in the middle of winter with our bags.

The views are definitely worth it 😍

Q: Advice for anyone wanting to try it out?
Michelle:

  1. Bookings fill up fast, so make sure to call them exactly a year before you would like to go on the hike.
  2. So. Many. Stairs. Up to 200 flights of stairs a day. The best possible preparation is the stairwells of Steve Biko (especially with all your bags post call).
Is this the river she had to swim across 😭😭😭
