Finding the Little Joys in Our Workplace
This past week has been a grueling one. I've found myself leaving work past dark every day, feeling drained and a little defeated. The endless hours and the weight of responsibilities made my week feel endless. Yet, amidst the exhaustion and the seemingly relentless challenges, there have been moments of unexpected joy and support that have made a world of difference.
One such moment was when a friend brought me a cup of coffee just when I needed it the most. It was a simple gesture, but it felt like a lifeline. Another time, my senior stepped in to watch my patient while I handled the premeds, allowing me a much-needed breather. And then there was that instance when a fellow comrade stood by my side as I faced a surgeon who wanted to start a case late. These small acts of kindness have had a profound impact on my mental health and have made the tough days a bit more bearable.
In our demanding field, it's easy to get lost in the busyness and forget the importance of looking out for each other. But it's these small gestures of support and understanding that can make a significant difference. Whether it's asking a colleague if they're okay, offering to cover them for a quick break, or simply greeting them with a smile, these actions can create a ripple effect of positivity.
We never truly know what battles our colleagues are facing. By acknowledging that we all have our struggles and by offering a helping hand, we can foster a more supportive and compassionate work environment. It's about understanding that we're in this together and that our shared experiences can bring us closer.
Today, I am grateful to the work colleagues who have made my life a little more bearable💜. Their kindness and support have reminded me of the importance of finding joy in the small things and the strength that comes from a united team.
Let's strive to be that source of support for each other. By doing so, we can make our workplace a better place for everyone, one small act of kindness at a time.
So maybe drop that work friend a message or send her a funny meme..
