Little long weekend
I write this to you, my fellow readers, whilst drinking a cup of hot chocolate and wearing a face mask (self-care Sunday, uh Monday) looking a little like ghost face from the Scream movies 🤣
None the less, I think we can all agree this long weekend was a much needed one, and that with this freezing weather, a movie marathon, hot drinks, soup and warm blanket would count as the perfect weekend for most ❄️🥣☕️
There were a few things happening this weekend, one of which was Father’s day on Sunday!
May all the doping Daddies in our department have had an amazing day and been spoiled by all the kiddos and family!! ✨
Youth Day
And then of course today, Monday, is Youth day!
On June 16, 2025, South Africa commemorates the 49th anniversary of the Soweto Uprising, a significant moment in the nation's history where thousands of black students protested the imposition of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in schools. The peaceful demonstration turned tragic when police opened fire, resulting in the deaths of at least 176 young people, with some estimates placing the toll as high as 700. This event motivated the anti-apartheid movement and is now observed as Youth Day, a time to reflect on the sacrifices of the past and the potential of the nation's youth.
