Mayday 🍂
Greetings all! We have officially started on the 5th month of the year, and is it just me or is time flying by???
Also its getting darker earlier and chillier by the day, so I guess we can say Autumn is here 🍂✨

May the 4th be with you 🖖🏻 (its the unofficial Star wars day today for those who don’t know)

For those interested, here is a breakdown if the sequence in which you should be watching the movies (as edited by my husband, who is a serious fan):

Also for those who don’t know, this is apparently not baby Yoda, but rather referred to as Grogu (as I have been reminded by my husband and Alex alike on numerous occasions)

Anyways, lets kick-off things for the week:
Monday
As we welcome in a new week, I would also like to welcome some new faces, Dr Ntambi who is a new registrar and Dr. Vahed who is a new MO, welcome to the team, we’ll do brief introductions on both in next week’s newsletter, but if you see then around, give a warm smile and make them feel welcome ✨
Also there is no morning meeting mane, as announced on the whatsapp group, so enjoy the extra 30 minutes of sleeping in on a Monday (except the spoed theatre peepz, shame neh)

Tuesday
Not forget about our friends having FCA 2 Oral exams next week, good luck with the last week of prep and studying, we all are cheering you on! Also you should be studying and not reading this right now 👀🤣

Thursday
With this nice and chilly weather, I thought what better than a nice soup recipe this week? 🍂
Butternut Squash Soup is always a winner 🫶🏻🍜 🎃 This is a recipe from www.bbcgoodfood.com

Ingredients:
- 1 butternut squash about 1kg, peeled and deseeded
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 onions diced
- 1 garlic clove thinly sliced
- 2 mild red chillies deseeded and finely chopped
- 850ml hot vegetable stock
- 4 tbsp créme fraîche more to serve
Method
Step 1
Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.
Step 2
Cut the squash into large cubes, about 4cm/1½in across, then toss in a large roasting tin with 1 tbsp of the olive oil.
Step 3
Roast for 30 mins, turning once during cooking, until golden and soft.
Step 4
While the butternut squash cooks, melt the butter with the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in a large saucepan, then add the onions, garlic clove and three-quarters of the chillies.
Step 5
Cover and cook on a very low heat for 15-20 mins until the onions are completely soft.
Step 6
Tip the butternut squash into the pan, add the stock and crème fraîche, then whizz with a stick blender until smooth. For a really silky soup, put the soup into a liquidiser and blitz it in batches.
Step 7
Return to the pan, gently reheat, then season to taste. Serve the soup in bowls with swirls of crème fraîche and a scattering of the remaining chopped chilli.
