New year... SAME old me

New year... SAME old me

Weekly Update 20/01/2025-25/01/2025

Dearest Gentle Readers (Yes, I may have been a little late to the "Bridgerton" party—don’t judge me - also can y'all really say that you are gentle ... or dear? Just kidding, don't report me to HR),

I am typing this in the comfort of the anaesthesia tea room at Kalafong, facing the goldenrod feature wall💛😆.

As we kick off 2025, we’re excited to share that our team is growing! We’ve welcomed several new contributors who will be joining us, so you can expect a wider range of updates moving forward. If you’ve ever thought about contributing as an author, feel free to reach out to me—Jeremy—anytime!

With the changes taking place in our department, I also want to highlight some new team members who will be joining us this February. Please join me in welcoming them with the same warmth and guidance that was shown to us when we first settled into this department. After all, we spend countless hours together—building a bond that, let’s face it, might just qualify as trauma bonding.

Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with all of you!

Call roster

Our call rosters in our department are structured predominantly as First, Second and Third on calls - with the fourth on call standby for emergencies where the first three are unavailable to come in. Kalafong rosters occasionally only having two on call per shift. First on call doctors may need to restructure teams as necessary during the night shift. After all it is a team orientated shift.

New changes to the newsletter

We have managed to source some new and exciting fresh blood into the publishing team.

We can expect a new category of posts which may be independent or integrated into our weekly updates as they come! Please watch this space.

We have invited Dr Reinecke and Dr Powell to join our team for the updates. Dr Bhabha is still around, and has promised to perhaps drop and update every now and then telling us about how things go down Jozi style.
