Midaz for who🤪

Today I was lucky enough to collect data for Dr Wongs Mmed and damn was it a lot of fun 😎

The patient was a middle aged male who underwent a BKA a few weeks ago and was coming in for formalisation of the stump.

Dr Wong met me and gave me a quick 5 minute tut on using the virtual reality headset and wow! its so easy to use and also alot of fun, but I mentioned that already 😉

okay, so we consented the patient which didnt take longer than 2 minutes and Dr Hadebe gave him a spinal of heavy marcaine and morphine. Once we were certain the spinal was working, the FUN started. From the extensive collection of movies, our patient chose to watch The Lion King. We applied the headset and earphones and made sure the patient was comfortable with the volume and screen set up😎

Consent obtained

after that, it was smooth sailing. Not a single moan or complain from the patient. not a single ml of sedation required and the centricity trend looked perfect !! even during the surgeons struggle with the chain saw, which resulted in the wire landing and attaching to the surgeons scrub cap, our patient was comfortable😌

Dr Terblance, is certain it was at this point that the patient watched that Mufasa death scene 🙃 ..

At the end of the procedure our patient was so happy, calm and could not stop telling us about how great the experience was, he remarked it was way more enjoyable and comfortable than his previous regional anaesthesia and his only complaint was the fact that he could not finish his movie !!

I hope this motivates you to try out VR on your next spinal, I will have the headset with me daily so please just drop me a message and I will be more than excited to assist !! its so wonderful watching things work and leaving our patients with such a pleasant and great experience🙏💜
