Weekly schedule 15-19 July
Weekly Update
Mandela Day, celebrated on July 18th, honors the legacy of Nelson Mandela, a global icon for peace, justice, and reconciliation. This day encourages us to take action and inspire change by dedicating 67 minutes of our time to making a positive impact, representing the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for social justice. It's a time to reflect on his values and work towards a better world for all.
Monday:
something to be grateful for.. According to Stats SA report, 10 million South Africans had neither enough food or money to buy food in 2019.
A recent publication by Dlamini et al, confirm 1 in 5 households or 20.4% of South African households are food insecure. With the prevalence varying widely across provinces and races.
Food insecure households were associated with a higher risk of anxiety and depression, with some coping strategies (e.g. begging) compounding this with an even greater impact on mental health.
With this context we appeal to you that the next you see someone begging or a car guard maybe just buy an extra loaf of bread and donate it.
